well it isn't.it's used so often to describe completely different styles of music that now it's so diluted it holds no significance.also, the basis of things "indie" is to be beyond common labels. But by calling it indie you're giving it a label. So it's pretty meaningless.

eh? bollocks. It's 'indie' for one, and it doesn't mean no record label or management, otherwise you would never ever hear of an indie band. It means they are signed to an INDIpendent record label, i.e not a major one. I can't believe you just said 'indie' isn't a musical style.

Indy means they don't have a management or a record label.. So no they weren't Indy. They were pop, and rock. Indy movies, indy metal, indy rap, indy whatever it's all indy, indy isn't a musical style.
