The meat of these animals is actually very tender. I know it is hard to believe but they have a lot of flavor and very little fat so your getting what you paid for when it comes to your 12 oz steak. It also is low in fat and is better for you than skinless chicken!! High protein and low cholesterol. There is no harm to the animal at all. That gene they have turns the protein they eat into muscle rather that fat. There is no steroids whats so ever.
