I value humor, intellect, compassion, sincerity, and a smile. I am optimistic, and take life seriously, but have learned not to take myself too seriously. Being too attached to one’s present perspective can lock out fresher more encompassing views. My job is intellectually rewarding and fulfills my need for social stewardship, but I struggle to keep it from consuming too much of my time. I played classical guitar not long ago, and hope to return to it as things settle down. My favorite music is '60s and '70s rock and classical, though I like many genres. I appreciate literature most for its insight into the human condition, but also for eloquence or even just a fun story.
I am affectionate, sensitive, dense, intuitive, and even inspiring. I like giving massage, such as my tendonitis permits. I appreciate open-mindedness and open spaces. I like to go exploring when I travel, be it in Paris or a national park. My facility with foreign languages rivals my admiration of the Bush administration. I know (knew) enough French to draw anguished looks from a people proud of their language, and know that if I put my mind to it, I can achieve the same prowess with any language. I also know how to begin almost every sentence with an “I”, omit words, and otherwise torture grammar in my native tongue. **I do chores**, often without complaint.
My match: A lot like me, not cloned, and, of course, plumbed differently. Bright, light-hearted, affectionate, enjoys the outdoors and pets, a sense of adventure, lust for exotic places, a delight in hiking uphill (for hours at a time), a willingness to adjust course midstream, will smell the flowers and watch the sunset. We should inspire the best in each other. Also I want to be able to discuss literature, politics, the meaning of life etc. all with humor, insight, and freedom from conventional moorings. Someone who humbles me with the depth of their insights excites me, but nothing is so exciting as caring about one another with a tender selfless devotion.
